CATAIR (Ontario Region) in partnership with NAPARS announces the Crash Data Retrieval  Operators and Analysis Course - January 6 - 10, 2025.   This course will be instructed by Brad Muir of Crash Data Specialists LLC at York Regional Police in Aurora, Ontario. 

This course builds on the basic Bosch Crash Data Retrieval System Operator and Analysis course.  This course emphasizes the data analysis of event data from various electronic modules and vehicle manufacturers supported by the Bosch CDR Tool.  Discussions also include data that is available in Tesla, Hyundai, and KIA vehicles.  The participant will be able to provide a situationally appropriate data analysis at the conclusion of the course. 
Topics include, but are not limited to: 
  • CDR system function
  • Deployment decision making process
  • Correlating pre-crash parameters such as vehicle speed, throttle position, engine speed and brake application
  • comparing internally recorded information with other external sources of data
  • calculating  Delta V and Closing Speed
  • Calculating Principle Direction of Force from Delta Vx and Delta Vy
  • Case studies include actual crash and staged crash data
